There are many types of epoxy resins, and new varieties are increasing, so there is no clear classification method so far.
1. Classification according to chemical structure: According to the difference in chemical structure, epoxy resin can be divided into two categories: glycidyl epoxy resin and non-glycidyl epoxy resin. The glycidyl epoxy resin can be regarded as a derivative compound of glycidol. There are mainly three kinds of glycidyl ethers, glycidyl ethers, glycidyl lipids and glycidylamines. The non-glycidyl epoxy resin is mainly obtained by reacting an oxidizing agent such as peracetic acid with a carbon-carbon double bond. Mainly refers to aliphatic epoxy resins, epoxy olefins and some new epoxy resins. For example, aliphatic epoxy resins, epoxidized olefins, and new epoxy resins.
2. Classification according to the number of functional groups in the molecule: Epoxy resin can be divided into double-tube energy group epoxy resin and multi-functional epoxy resin. For reactive resins, the effect of the number of functional groups is very important. A typical bisphenol A type epoxy resin and a phenolic epoxy resin belong to a double tube energy group epoxy resin. The polyfunctional epoxy resin is an epoxy resin containing two or more epoxy groups in its molecule.
3. Classification by state: According to the state at room temperature, epoxy resin can be divided into liquid epoxy resin and solid epoxy resin. Liquid resin refers to a resin with a relatively low molecular weight and can be used as a castable, solventless adhesive, and coating. The solid resin is a relatively high molecular weight epoxy resin and is a thermoplastic solid oligomer that can be used in powder coatings and solid molding materials.
